Hello July

I don't want to be that awkward guest who never seems to leave the party, so it's time to move from my old blog to this sexy new one.

Life got in the way of how much poker I wanted to play in the last months but I've at least managed to move up from the 20s and 30s to being comfortably rolled for 100s on BCP.

Here's the graph in the wonky new Sharkscope (not including the daily HU MTTs I won):

It's funny that my intention was to mostly avoid regs, especially at 100s, but I've gotten bored enough to have most of my games vs regs. Action's not amazing and I'll take anything I can get if I'm not doing something else. Besides, I just want to play poker and it's more fun to face regs. They offer a challenge and new ways of thinking. Although, I suppose there's something wrong when I've gotten something like 200 games vs SmallPears. While they were friendly and interesting games set-up through AIM, it's hard to justify that much time vs a player I consider quite good.

In any case, July's here and I'm hoping to have most of my volume at 200s by the end of the month. Since I've jumped through the limits and just set-up HEM as well, it's appropriate that I reset Sharkscope. My average stake is definitely not $39 anymore.

Good to see you continuing the success you had on Bodog on Merge as well.

You'll be locked and loaded, ready to go for eventual US online poker regulation.

Yup, although I got too eager to get back to higher stakes and took some gambles with my roll. The lack of action and hunger for tough competition tempted me too much so I ended up playing ricestuud at 300s and StevenAdler at 500s. Although the EV line was very healthy in all my games and I know my play was strong, results didn't materialize the way I hoped. :D

This resets my profits for the week. It’s the first deviation from my bankroll management rules so I won’t be too hard on myself but I obviously don't recommend this approach to others. Still, bankroll management matters less when you can afford to redeposit. Either way, I made sure to stop before there was danger that I wouldn't be comfortably rolled for 50s and close to rolled for 100s.

My dad's the smartest guy I know and he always tells me about the virtue of patience, but I'm still too ambitious to let things happen naturally. I'm capable of playing far higher than my roll realistically allows and it's frustrating to wait till it catches up. If there was better action at 100s, I wouldn't try to take these shortcuts. I'd be happy to test my mettle vs anyone willing but waiting four hours without a game isn't my idea of grinding. Come back PokerStars! You can't even imagine how much I want US poker to finally be like it should be.
